Y House, by Steven Holl

Well, to start off, I would like to show a little work that I find extremely significant in the whole sceme of architecture. Steven Holl is an American architect. Just take a look at the “Y House.”

This is the “Y House.” The next picture should explain it a little better.

That should be a little better indication of why it is the “Y House.” It was build in 2000. He used wood framing with intricate detailing of cantilevers and roof pieces which limited the structural depths. He also used steel framing to make it stronger. This whole project was designed, bidded on, and constructed within 12 months. That is pretty dang fast.
