American Idol – Goodbye Danny Gokey

May 15, 2009 at 2:21 pm (Music, TV)

I don’t know what it is about this show now, but it seems so stacked. If Kris Allen hadn’t performed that Kanye West song Danny would so be in the finale and there would actually be a competition. Now, there is no way for Kris to win. Everyone knows Adam was going to win all along, but for those of us who loved Danny even more, there was at least some hope to take him down. Now that Danny Gokey is out he can start making records. I agree with Paula that he has the sexiest voice ever. He doesn’t rely on a falsetto and screaming like Adam. Also, he doesn’t usually stay in the same range like Kris.

I am just really bummed that Danny didn’t make it to the finale, probably because of Paula’s awful song choice… but, I know that some record company will pick him up and he will be on his way to making some beautiful music – which I will buy!

The Rescues, “Break Me Out”

April 27, 2009 at 3:59 pm (lyrics, Music)

My empty room

Crowded to soon

I look for the fire escape

I picture myself

Running like hell

Making my getaway

The walls are caving in with no warning

This ship is sinking, I gotta swim for it

I’m running out of air

Break me out tonight

I wanna see the sun rising anywhere but here

Come with me

Oh, this could be

The only chance we get

We gotta take it

We don’t do it now we’ll never make it

Lose this crowd

Oh break me out

Whisper of our feet

Sneak down the street

Some kind of secret race

They’ll carry on

Won’t notice we’re gone

So easily replaced

The walls are caving in with no warning

This ship is sinking, I gotta swim for it

I’m running out of air

Break me out tonight I wanna see the sun rising anywhere but here

Come with me

Oh, this could be

The only chance we get

We gotta take it

We don’t do it now we’ll never make it

Lose this crowd

Oh break me out

The walls are caving in with no warning

This ship is sinking, I gotta swim for it

I got a feeling we’re better off anyway

I don’t care what they say

Break me out tonight

I wanna see the sun rising anywhere but here

Come with me

Oh, this could be

The only chance we get

We gotta take it

We don’t do it now we’ll never make it

Lose this crowd

Oh break me out

American Idol Final 7

April 15, 2009 at 3:30 pm (Music, TV)

So I was totally sad that last week I didn’t get to see Adam Lambert’s “Mad World.” I heard it was fantastic. I am not a HUGE fan of him, but I can see his talent. He is totally original.

This week, Kris Allen did one of my very favorite songs and I loved it! I thought he killed it! Danny, as always, sounded good… but I am afraid he isn’t being as original as he could. I still think he is my favorite. I also really loved Allison. She really is the girls only hope for the finals.

This week, I am suggesting that the bottom three will be Anoop, Matt, and Lil. I am not really sure who will be going home though.

“Forever” by Rascal Flatts

March 29, 2009 at 1:31 pm (lyrics, Music)

I miss you so much
Your light, your smile, your way, and everything about us
Though you’re gone, you’re still here
In my heart, in my tears
Yeah you sure left your mark and we were just getting started

[Chorus]
It wasn’t long, it wasn’t long enough… Together…
But it was long enough, yeah, it was long enough… to last forever…
Sometimes I get so mad; I scream and swear at this
Cuz’ this, isn’t how we planned it
I sit here, in a cold room… Prayin’
Waiting on you
To run back through that door, the way it was before

[Chorus]
You left, it wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough… together
But it was long enough; yeah it was long enough to last, forever…
I feel Cheated (I feel Cheated), defeated (can’t believe it)
Can’t believe that you’re gone (your gone, your gone)
Oh it was wrong (so wrong)
It wasn’t long enough
It wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough…
No it wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough…
Together (Together)
But it was long enough; yeah it was long enough, to last,
To last, to last forever…
(It wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough)
No it wasn’t long enough…
(It wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough)
Long enough…
(It wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough, it wasn’t long enough)

The Fray with Jack’s Mannequin

March 23, 2009 at 11:42 pm (Music)

I did something to take my mind off of things. I bought tickets to see The Fray with Jack’s Mannequin this summer in Kansas City. July 22 I believe…

Man, how great is that one going to be?! I totally love both bands! Now, the question is, who am I going to go with? I bought 4 tickets.

At least this will keep me occupied for a while.

Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis

March 19, 2009 at 12:13 pm (Music)

I am not much of a country fan these days, but I was watching Idol and they played this song. I feel like this song exemplifies my life in so many ways…

IF I TOLD YOU SO LYRICS
Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis

Suppose I called you up tonight
And told you that I love you
And suppose I said I wanna come back home
And suppose I cried and said I think I finally learned my lesson
And I’m tired of spending all my time alone
If I told you that I realize you’re all I ever wanted
And it’s killin’ me to be so far away
Would you tell me that you love me too
And would we cry together
Or would you simply laugh at me and say

I told you so
Oh, I told you so
I told you someday you’d come crawlin’ back and askin’ me to take you in
I told you so
But you had to go
Now I’ve found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again

If I got down on my knees and told you I was yours forever
Would you get down on yours too and take my hand
Would we get that old time feelin’
Would we laugh and talk for hours
The way we did when our love first began
Would you tell me that you miss me too
And that you’ve been so lonely
And you’ve waited for the day that I returned
And we’d live in love forever
And that I’m your one and only
Or would you say the table’s finally turned

Would you say I told you so
Oh, I told you so
I told you someday you’d come crawlin’ back and askin’ me to take you in
I told you so
But you had to go
Now I’ve found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two again

Now I’ve found someone new and you will never break my heart in two again

American Idol this week

March 17, 2009 at 2:39 pm (Music, TV)

My top three favorites were Anoop, Danny, and Allison this week. After that, I liked Scott and Kris. I didn’t mind Alexis Grace, but I am a little worried. She was pretty forgettable this week for me. The most forgettable though had to have been Michael Sarver and the guy who went last, Matt. I guess it is because I am not a huge fan of those two, even though they are obviously good singers for being there.

Man, Adam Lambert is so out there. He is floating in outer space. I thought it was interesting, but he always is just ok for me. He doesn’t get me like some of the others in the way they connect with an audience. He seems too into himself. However, he can belt it though. He has a massive range. And, for the most part, he hits his pitches. Plus, he is a showman.

There are two more singers that I can’t remember right now. I obviously didn’t care for them this week. Ha.

2 Augustana Songs

March 15, 2009 at 6:18 am (Music)

These are a couple of great songs. I really like Boston, but I Still Ain’t Over You has some points in it that apply to my life. I put them in bold.

.

“Boston”

In the light of the sun, is there anyone? Oh it has begun…
Oh dear you look so lost, eyes are red and tears are shed,
This world you must’ve crossed… you said…

You don’t know me, you don’t even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don’t know me, and you don’t wear my chains… oh yeah,

Essential yet appealed, carry all your thoughts across
An open field,
When flowers gaze at you… they’re not the only ones who cry
When they see you
You said…

You don’t know me, you don’t even care, oh yeah,
She said
You don’t know me, and you don’t wear my chains… oh yeah,

She said I think I’ll go to Boston…
I think I’ll start a new life,
I think I’ll start it over, where no one knows my name,
I’ll get out of California, I’m tired of the weather,
I think I’ll get a lover and fly em out to Spain…
I think I’ll go to Boston,
I think that I’m just tired
I think I need a new town, to leave this all behind…
I think I need a sunrise, I’m tired of the sunset,
I hear it’s nice in the Summer, some snow would be nice… oh yeah,

Boston… where no one knows my name… yeah
Where no one knows my name…
Where no one knows my name…
Yeah Boston…
Where no one knows my name.

.

.

.

“I Still Ain’t Over You”

Out of luck and out of tune
Half a day and night confused
Love may wash away the blues
But I still ain’t over you

Damn the day that I forgot
Came so close and almost lost
It’s been one year and fourteen months
But I still ain’t over you

Hey, I’m the blood in your veins
I’m the cold when it rains
I’m your heart when it breaks
Time, no it ain’t on our side
I’m the truth to your lie
I’m your tear when you cry

Back and forth and side to side
Right ain’t wrong if wrong ain’t right
Well I will love you day and night
‘Cause I still ain’t over you

Hey, I’m the blood in your veins
I’m the cold when it rains
I’m your heart when it breaks
Time, no it ain’t on our side
I’m the truth to your lie
I’m your tear when you cry

When the walls come crashing in
When the flames come closer then
Just remember time and again
I still ain’t over you

New Band – Augustana

March 15, 2009 at 4:42 am (It's just my life, Just Writing from the Soul, Music)

I was feeling like something new. So I waited on pandora for a while until I hear something worth downloading. Needless to say, I didn’t wait too long. I found the band Augustana. It was the song called “Boston” that made me want to listen to them.

They are pretty cool. They are kind of like Snow Patrol and The Fray mixed together. It is pretty good. I like it so far.

You should give them a try if you like the two bands I mentioned.

.

I use music to help me cope with hard times in my life. This situation just kind of boggles my mind. Adam and I broke up and I don’t have that I am going to die feeling like I had with Neeraj. With Neeraj, I felt like I couldn’t breath and I was so incredibly sad. I just cried myself to sleep for like a month. This feels right, now that Adam and I are not together. It is just so strange. I didn’t expect this to be easy. Man, that tells me a lot about our relationship. Really, we were just together because we were really great friends. And now, that is all we are going to be. We might still get together and hang out over spring break. I have a feeling it is going to be weird. Oh well.

Springfield Weekend

March 14, 2009 at 6:23 am (It's just my life, Music)

This weekend Adam and I are taking a break. It is necessary for me before I break the news so I can really just be alone and think about things. I need to be in the right frame of mind. So, I am spending today playing with Hendrix, reading a book, and catching up on chores around the house in good old Springfield.

So far it has been really laid back. I love days like this. It is so relaxing, especially when I am allowed a bit of spare time being an architecture student and all. By the way, classes are going super great this semester. I love the community studio. And, next year I graduate and will be an architect! Then I have  graduate school! Yay!

Music Lyrics Time

Goodbye Beautiful Day by Aviatic

Time just withers away
Stealing day after day
The moon calls, the night falls
Goodbye beautiful day
Seems time never can stay
Just keeps running away
The stars fly and hearts cry
Leaving nothing left to say

[Chorus]
Goodbye beautiful day
I must be on my way
Bring the rain to wash the pain
I’m sorry I can’t stay
Goodbye beautiful day
That’s all I have to say
Come tomorrow I’ll be gone
I’m sorry I can’t stay (Sorry I can’t stay)

Time always has a say
Slowly slipping away
It’s gone now yet somehow
There’s no telling time today
This time I’ll go away
And I’ll be gone to stay
We all know we’ll all go
That’s all I have to say

[Chorus]
Goodbye beautiful day
I must be on my way
Bring the rain to wash the pain
I’m sorry I can’t stay
Goodbye beautiful day
That’s all I have to say
Come tomorrow I’ll be gone
I’m sorry I can’t stay (Sorry I can’t stay)

[Chorus]
Goodbye beautiful day
I must be on my way
Bring the rain to wash the pain
I’m sorry I can’t stay
Goodbye beautiful day
That’s all I have to say
Come tomorrow I’ll be gone
I’m sorry I can’t stay (Sorry I can’t stay)

[Chorus]
Goodbye beautiful day
I must be on my way
Bring the rain to wash the pain
I’m sorry I can’t stay
Goodbye beautiful day
That’s all I have to say
Come tomorrow I’ll be gone
I’m sorry I can’t stay (Sorry I can’t stay)

I love Pandora.com

March 13, 2009 at 12:07 pm (Music)

This website is awesome!

I heard from a couple friends that i should check it out. So I did. Now I have found some really new amazing bands. Plus, there are no commercials!

For instance, it was a cross between Pink Floyd and Tool that lead me to Porcupine Tree. I am totally digging their music! They are from across the pond and I might have a new favorite for the week. I love finding new music. It seriously makes my day.

The Fray’s New Album 2009

February 4, 2009 at 5:43 am (Just Writing from the Soul, lyrics, Music)

The Fray’s Self-Titled Album out in stores now!

OK, so this is my first listen through, but already I have some thoughts!

fray

“Syndicate” is a perfect radio song. It has everything that is marketable. That is important to have in albums. It is a pretty darn good song!

“Absolute” I feel is mediocre for The Fray… but I think that might be my personal opinion.

“You Found Me” = AMAZING! You simply have to listen to it! Awesome song! I loved it the first time I heard it when they released it. It is what made me want this album so much!

So far I can not get enough of the song, “Say When”… it is a MAJOR stand out! I recommend everyone listen to it! Buy this Album!

“Never Say Never” is such an emotional jackpot. The lyrics hit with, “Don’t let me go, don’t let me go.” It makes such an argument of love. He says he will steady her hands. I love that kind of passion! It has some interesting sounds that are not particularly normal to The Fray and it is a nice little change in this song!

“Where the Story Ends” is very melodic at best… I think that they could have been a little bit more risky in that aspect. Nevertheless, it was still a good song. It does have a VERY SURPRISING ending.. worth listening to…

“That’s Enough for Now” – This was bold song because, for me, it hit a low point in my life. It talks about a relationship between a daughter and a father. See below:

“But that’s enough for now
He should have never left you broken
He should have held you
Things your Father never told you”

“Ungodly Hour” is a song about a breakup. It has a very interesting brush cadence throughout the song and very sympathetic piano chords. It ends on a nice little guitar solo…

“We Build Then We Break” – It has a very techno-like feel at first. Almost like the way Muse does it in some of their songs, only not as strong… It is very interesting to listen to. It keeps the listener entrenched in the song.

“Happiness” is one great lyrical genius of a song. I swear it is just amazing in that sense. This song just seems so REAL. Seriously real, and true. I love it when writers can capture truths. I also like the addition of the Gospel Choir in the last verse! Nice touch indeed.

Happiness damn near destroys you
Breaks your faith to pieces on the floor
So you tell yourself, that’s probably enough for now
Happiness has a violent roar

Overall, I think this was a darn good album with a couple AMAZING STANDOUTS! Buy it!
